CARLEY NEWS

By Louise Calvert-Dale

The Carley Hall Pasta Supper/Silent Auction was a resounding success this year. Both sittings sold out.  The auction items generated more revue than ever before due to the generosity of individuals and corporations who supported the event.   Our dedicated Board team worked for months ahead of time to collect donations, prepare pasta sauce, advertise, sell tickets, and line up volunteers.  Congratulations to the Carley Board for their amazing efforts.

We thank the following volunteers who worked tirelessly on the event:  Kelly M, Ian W, Karen, Marilyn F, Pat F, Bunny P, Karen R, and Rod G.  as well as Board members.   Thanks to the Oro-Medonte Horticultural Society for donating plants to sell.

Mark  Saturday September 21 on your calendar. It’s two weeks before Thanksgiving.   Come and visit the Carley Art, Music and Tea Room during the Open Doors/Culture Day. Doors are open 10 am -4 pm with guest local visual artists and English Cream Tea.  There will be onstage live performances throughout the day.  We are delighted that Anne Walker has agreed to sing from 1-2 pm.  Her songs celebrate the history and beauty of Oro-Medonte.

The next event will be Saturday October 12 during the Thanksgiving Studio Tour where we provide a homemade  lunch at our Thanksgiving Tea 11 am – 3 pm.  There will be more information coming on this event.

The “country way” is alive and well at Carley Community Hall: people supporting one another, teamwork, giving back to community.  We hope you will come out and be a part of our dynamic volunteer team or simply attend our fundraising functions. It’s a great way to meet neighbors and make new friends.

The Hall is yours to rent for a minimal fee- a perfect location for reunions, weddings, showers, meetings, workshops, art classes and more.  Please put this lovely century building to use.  Carley Community Hall is located at 396 Warminster Sideroad between Line 8 and Line 9.  For bookings call the Township of Oro-Medonte at 705-487-2171 or email [email protected] for details.  Check out the Carley Community Hall website at www.carleycommunityhall.com and at Facebook.com/carleycommunityhall.
